Steel staircases
in Cyprus — frame,
treads and guardrail.

Stair frames that do not flex or creak: external flights to the first floor and roof, internal stringer and mono-stringer stairs, spiral and access stairs. Measured on site, fabricated in the workshop, fitted and adjusted on the job.

Staircase types I build

A staircase is a structure where a centimetre of error is felt on every step. That is why I measure myself instead of working from someone else's dimensions, and fit on site.

/ 01

External staircases

House entrances, access to the first floor and to a terrace. Box-section or channel stringers with grating, chequer plate or concrete treads. Galvanising and powder coating are essential near the sea.

/ 02

Internal stringer stairs

The classic build: two stringers or a central mono-stringer, finished in timber, porcelain tile or poured concrete. The frame is welded so the finishing trade does not have to rework it.

/ 03

Floating and mono-stringer

A single central spine with treads that appear to hang in the air. It needs accurate section sizing and rigid fixing — loads are calculated before any steel is cut.

/ 04

Spiral staircases

When space is tight: a central column, winder treads, compact radius. A common solution for lofts, mezzanines and roof access.

/ 05

Access and roof stairs

Step ladders, stairs to plant, solar panels and water tanks, basement and service stairs. Simple, strong, with a protective guardrail.

/ 06

Landings and mezzanines

Intermediate landings, mezzanine floors, galleries and walkways. Beams, decking and guardrails sized to load and built to your opening.

Staircases I have built

Real photos from Cyprus jobs: a frame with landing in a house under renovation, a box-section flight with grating treads, and a stair guardrail.

How the staircase is built

01

Measuring the opening

I measure finished floor to finished floor, the opening, flight width and angles, then work out the number of risers so the step feels natural.

02

Layout and approval

You see the flight layout: where the landing sits, where the top tread lands, how the guardrail runs. Changes happen before welding, not after.

03

Frame welding

Stringers and tread brackets are MIG welded in the workshop. Geometry is checked with a level and jig so every tread sits in the same plane.

04

Installation and fitting

The frame is set, fixings welded or bolted, and the flight adjusted in place. Guardrail and handrail go in immediately or after finishing, whichever suits the site.

05

Paint and protection

Primer and paint or powder coating. Reinforced systems outdoors; RAL colour matched to the interior indoors.

Steel staircase prices

Prices for the frame including installation. Timber or stone tread finishes are quoted separately and usually fitted by the finishing trade onto the completed frame.

External flight framefrom €350
Internal twin-stringer flightfrom €450
Mono-stringer / floatingfrom €750
Spiral staircasefrom €900
Grating / chequer plate tread (each)€25–55

Staircases built across Cyprus

Frames are welded in Larnaca, delivered in sections and assembled on site. I work with private houses, apartments, hotels and warehouses in every town on the island.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a steel staircase cost in Cyprus?
An external flight frame starts at €350, an internal twin-stringer flight at €450, a mono-stringer at €750 and a spiral at €900. Grating treads are priced per unit (€25–55). Timber or stone finishes are normally fitted by the finishing trade onto the completed frame.
What riser height is comfortable?
A comfortable riser is 16–18 cm with a 27–30 cm going. Tight openings push you towards 19–20 cm, in which case a landing is a better answer. I set out the flight during the survey and show it before welding.
Can you build a frame for timber cladding?
Yes, it is the most common order. The frame is welded with tread brackets sized for your timber thickness and pre-drilled for fixings, so the joiner simply screws the treads down instead of drilling steel on site.
What material suits an external staircase near the sea?
Hot-dip galvanised steel with powder coating, or aluminium. Plain painted steel on the front line starts rusting along the seams within a couple of years, and the price difference pays for itself at the first repair.
How long does fabrication take?
A standard flight takes 5–10 working days from survey to installation. Spiral and floating stairs take up to two weeks. Access ladders are often done in 3–4 days.
Can a staircase be installed in a finished house without mess?
Mostly yes: the frame arrives in sections and only assembly plus spot welding or bolting happens on site. The only dust comes from drilling anchors, which is a few minutes of work with a vacuum running.
