/ 03I come to Deryneia with the full kit: MIG and TIG sets, generator, cutting and grinding gear. New structures built to measure, and repairs to what is already standing. ~40 km from Larnaca — usually same day or next day.
There is no hotel season here, but there are smallholdings: houses with land, greenhouses, machinery and workshops. The work is steady all year and almost always practical rather than decorative.
The most common job is the plot perimeter. Deryneia is loosely built with large plots, and the fence is needed less for privacy than to mark the boundary and keep animals in. It is priced per running metre and fixed either to existing posts or to new ones concreted on site.
Second most common is repairing what already works: a trailer with a cracked drawbar, a greenhouse frame after wind, a failed bracket on an irrigation line, a bent gate frame. These are exactly the cases where hauling the item to a workshop costs more than arriving with a generator and welding it in place — and there is no socket in a field.
Materials can be simpler than on the coast: there is far less salt in the air, and ordinary steel with primer and powder coating comfortably lasts ten years or more. That is real money saved, and I say so rather than selling galvanising where it is not needed.
