Limassol — port, yachts and marine stainless

Limassol is Cyprus's largest port city with a high concentration of sea air and salt. This demands special materials: ordinary painted steel on waterfronts and coastal districts rusts within 2–3 years. I work with AISI 316 (marine grade) stainless — it contains molybdenum, which blocks chloride corrosion.

In Limassol there's a lot of work on railings for seaside villas and apartments, gates in gated residential complexes, wire rope barriers and T-tops for yachts. I also regularly make canopies and pergolas for waterfront restaurants and hotels.

I drive from Larnaca via the A1 motorway — takes about 55 minutes. I arrive with the full kit: TIG rig for stainless and aluminium, MIG/MMA for mild steel, generator, grinders and fasteners.

Why AISI 316 for Limassol?

316 stainless contains 2–3% molybdenum — this is the critical difference from 304. By the sea, in the port, on a yacht molybdenum blocks rust from chlorides. The price is about 35% higher but service life is 20–30 years versus 3–5 for ordinary steel.
