Stainless Steel
Welding in Cyprus —
clean weld without rust.

Professional TIG argon welding of AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel. Railings, pool fencing, kitchen equipment, boat parts, plumbing. Clean seams with argon purging on the reverse side — no oxidation, no rust even after years. Mobile service with equipment across all of Cyprus.

Why argon TIG welding for stainless steel

🔥

Clean Weld

TIG welding in an argon shield produces flat seams without slag, spatters, or burns. The weld looks like factory-made.

🛡

No Oxidation

Argon purging on the reverse side prevents chromium oxide formation. The weld doesn't rust — the protective layer remains intact.

Precise Control

TIG allows precise control of heat and filler rod. Important for thin stainless steel — no burn-through, no warping.

Corrosion Resistance

Proper TIG welding preserves the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. The weld serves as long as the base metal.

AISI 304 vs AISI 316 — which to choose

AISI 304

18% Cr · 8% Ni · no Mo

Standard stainless steel. For indoor spaces or properties far from the sea. Cheaper than 316, but rusts from chlorides — sea salt, pool chemicals.

  • ✓ Lower cost
  • ✓ Suitable for indoors
  • ⚠ Rusts at the coast
  • ⚠ Rusts near pools
FOR CYPRUS

AISI 316 (Marine Grade)

16% Cr · 10% Ni · 2-3% Mo

Marine-grade stainless steel with molybdenum. For Cyprus — by the sea, by the pool, on open balconies. Doesn't rust from chlorides. Slightly more expensive, but essential for outdoor use.

  • ✓ Doesn't rust at the coast
  • ✓ Resistant to pool chemicals
  • ✓ Lasts 30+ years
  • ✓ Recommended for Cyprus

TIG welding technology with argon purging

01

Surface Preparation

I clean the welding area with acetone or alcohol. Remove grease, oxide film, dirt. For stainless steel, cleanliness is critical — any contamination will show in the weld.

02

Argon Purging

I supply argon to the reverse side of the weld through a tube or box. This protects the hot metal from oxygen — no oxidation, no chromium oxide, no rust.

03

TIG Welding

I weld with a tungsten electrode in an argon shield. Add filler rod manually. Control heat with pulse mode. The weld is flat, clean, without slag or spatters.

Important: Without argon purging on the reverse side, the weld oxidizes and rusts. Many welders skip this step to save argon — the result is rust within a year. I always purge, even for hidden seams.

What we weld from stainless steel

Railings & Balustrades

Balcony railings, staircase railings, pool fencing. AISI 316 for outdoor use. TIG welding with argon purging — seams don't rust even after 10+ years.

Pool Equipment

Pool fencing, ladders, underwater lighting fixtures. Only AISI 316 — chlorine and salt destroy AISI 304. TIG welding with full argon purging.

Kitchen Equipment

Restaurant tables, sinks, shelving, exhaust hoods. AISI 304 is sufficient for kitchens. TIG welding — clean seams that are easy to sanitize.

Boat Parts

Railings, ladders, fittings, fuel tanks. Only AISI 316 — seawater is extremely aggressive. TIG welding with argon purging — no rust, no leaks.

Plumbing & Pipes

Water pipes, drainage, heating systems. AISI 304 or 316 depending on conditions. TIG welding — leak-proof seams without flux residue.

Custom Fabrication

Furniture, decorative elements, enclosures, frames. Any design from stainless steel. TIG welding — seams look like jewelry.

Professional equipment for TIG welding

Miller Dynasty 200 TIG

Professional American TIG machine. Pulse mode, precise current control, AC/DC. For stainless steel I use DC with straight polarity. The machine holds the arc stably — even on thin metal.

Pure Argon 99.99%

High-purity argon for TIG welding. I use 10–15 liters per minute for shielding the electrode and 5–10 liters for purging the reverse side. Argon is expensive, but without it the weld rusts.

Tungsten Electrodes

I use lanthanum (WL-15) or cerium (WC-20) tungsten electrodes. They're more stable than thorium and safer. Grind the tip to a sharp point for stainless steel.

Filler Rods ER316L

For AISI 316, I use ER316L filler rods. For AISI 304 — ER308L. The filler rod must match the base metal — otherwise the weld will have different corrosion resistance.

Frequently asked questions

How much does stainless steel welding cost in Cyprus?
TIG argon welding of stainless steel — from €50 per hour. Stainless steel railings — from €95 per linear meter. The exact cost depends on volume and complexity. Send a photo — I'll calculate within 1 hour.
What's the difference between AISI 304 and AISI 316?
AISI 316 contains 2-3% molybdenum, which blocks chloride corrosion. For Cyprus — by the sea, by the pool, on an open balcony — only 316. AISI 304 is suitable for indoor spaces or properties far from the sea and chlorine.
Why does stainless steel rust along the weld?
Because when welding without argon purging on the reverse side, the weld oxidizes — chromium oxide forms, which destroys the protective layer of stainless steel. Proper TIG welding with argon purging prevents oxidation and the weld remains clean for decades.
Do you provide mobile stainless steel welding service?
Yes. I travel with complete TIG equipment and argon cylinder throughout Cyprus. Welding right on site — by the pool, in the yacht marina, in restaurant kitchens.
Can you weld thin stainless steel without burning through?
Yes. TIG welding allows precise heat control with pulse mode. I regularly weld stainless steel from 0.8 mm without burn-through or warping. Important for restaurant equipment and decorative items.
How long does a properly welded stainless steel weld last?
With proper TIG welding with argon purging, the weld serves as long as the base metal — 30+ years for AISI 316 at the coast, indefinitely for AISI 304 indoors. The key is purging — without it, the weld rusts within 1-2 years.
Do you work with stainless steel pipes?
Yes. I weld water pipes, drainage, heating systems. TIG welding with full penetration — leak-proof seams. I use backing purging to prevent oxidation inside the pipe.
Can you repair a rusted stainless steel weld?
Yes. I grind out the old weld, clean to bare metal, and re-weld with proper TIG technique and argon purging. After repair, the weld is better than the original.
Is mirror or matte finish better for stainless steel railings?
Mirror finish (8K) looks impressive, but shows fingerprints and scratches. Matte finish (240-400 grit brushed) is more practical for railings that are touched by hand. For decoration — mirror. For functional structures — matte. We'll discuss when ordering.
