/ 03I come to Protaras with the full kit: MIG and TIG sets, generator, cutting and grinding gear. New structures built to measure, and repairs to what is already standing. ~55 km from Larnaca — usually same day or next day.
Protaras runs on the season, and the work follows it: big jobs happen on closed properties from November to March, while from April it is targeted repairs that have to be done before guests arrive.
More than half the enquiries here come from short-let villas and small hotels. The typical call is: “we have a check-in in ten days, the pool railing has worked loose and the gate will not close.” That kind of job is done in a single visit, because the van carries the welder, a generator and a stock of box section.
The second stream is taverna and beach-bar terraces on the front line. There the deciding factor is not the price of the structure but the metal: salt spray eats ordinary painted steel in three or four seasons, and the owner only remembers that “last time it all rusted”. So in Protaras I quote hot-dip galvanising or aluminium by default and explain the price difference up front.
The off-season is a separate story. From November to February owners finally let you onto the property, and that is when pergolas over terraces, parking canopies, roof access stairs to plant and full perimeter fencing get built.

Almost everything here sits on the front line, so the deciding question is not price but coating: ordinary painted steel by the water lasts 3–5 years. In Protaras I use hot-dip galvanising, aluminium or stainless — and I say so before the quote, not after the first season.
